Finding the right physician leader is not a generic headhunting assignment.
Given the demands on today’s health care organizations, selecting, hiring, incorporating, and retaining the right physician leader requires identifying the blend of clinical credibility, managerial skill, and interpersonal style that will enable a prospective physician leader to work effectively within your unique organizational setting to achieve the results you require.
Because health care organizations are experiencing unprecedented internal and external pressures and change, and the solutions they require are complex, traditional “search” services must be supplemented by organizational consulting capability. In our experience, physician leaders are not simply “dropped into” organizations. Incorporating physician leadership can be challenging and may require reconfiguration of existing structures and/or reporting relationships. In addition, even talented and qualified physician candidates may require skills development in order to deliver maximal results. This is especially true for those who are transitioning from clinical settings or clinical program management positions into executive management roles.
